Soil amendments for gardening – Does gardening require soil amendments?
Yes, it does. The soil in the southwest is poor. We recommend Back to Earth Compost for planting trees, shrubs, and other larger outdoor type plants. We recommend using it at about a half and half ratio. Half native soil and the other Back to Earth compost or any type of compost available in your area. Why this ratio? Because it is rich in nitrogen and this element will burn the root system if applied at full strength.

Hi Paul, just wondering when the best time to trim the trees and bushes. Sincerely Lena
Thanks for submitting your question Lena. The best time to trim trees and bushes is in late fall. However you can also trim in early spring. Remember always trim if there is a good reason to do so.
